Four students from Presentation Secondary School in Castleisland spent five days volunteering in Lourdes recently with the Kerry Diocesan Pilgrimage and it proved to be an unforgettable experience.

Students Elaine O’Donoghue, Danelle Donoghue, Aiva Herbert and Eibhlis Brosnan travelled with Joan Prendiville and they spent five days working as full-time volunteers.

The students worked hard during their five day trip. The day began at 6am and worked until 11pm each night carrying out a range of jobs including cleaning duties, dining duties and taking pilgrims to various ceremonies as well as caring for the sick pilgrims.

The girls took part in a full programme which included a Vigil of Reconciliation, a Vigil of Healing, participation in the Blesses Sacrament procession and a torchlight procession and Mass in the Rosary Basilica during their time there.
