]]> On Tuesday, October 20th, our First Year students took part in a Motus Learning Workshop focused on promoting emotional intelligence and positive mental health. The workshop aimed to equip young people with the language and skills to better understand their emotions, manage their mental health and express how they are feeling. It also encouraged open conversations about mental health, helping to break down the stigma surrounding children speaking about their feelings and experiences. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for students to develop greater self-awareness, emotional understanding and confidence in seeking support when needed.

This module was first introduced to the TY programme in September 2026. Students are completing two classes weekly under the guidance of English teacher J. McElligott. Today’s workshop provided students with an opportunity to perform as actors and legal professionals in a mock trial event. Well done to all for putting their best legal foot forward! In addition, students explored a range of legal disputes and scenarios frequently encountered by young people. Opinions, advice and experience was shared. Thank you to the Law Ed team for visiting our TY class.

]]> Dear Parent/Guardian,

Our Annual Halloween Fancy Dress will take place on Friday 23rd October in our school.

Each year our Student Council nominate a local or national charity in which to raise funds for as part of this day. This year the chosen charity is Jigsaw Kerry. Jigsaw do phenomenal work with youth mental health each day.

The recommended donation is €2.

It is a fun day to end the first half-term of school.

We encourage all students and staff to get involved and be as creative as they can.

There will be prizes on the day for both students and staff (see poster attached).

Students can come to school on this day in fancy dress (no uniform required). We also welcome back past pupil Michelle Burke, who is driving this fundraiser as part of her fundraising work.

Thanks once again to Ms. O’Reilly and all members of the Student Council for organising this very worthwhile event.

Regards,

Mr. Dargan

Principal

From music-making to ocean waves and retail therapy, it was an absolutely super day from start to finish!
