A taste of Pres Castleisland for our Corsican friends
October 23, 2023
Having grasped the basics of Gaelic sports, our Corsicans’ next challenge was Irish Dancing. With our own experts from 1st and 5th year, our new friends got stuck in after an initial haon dó trí lesson by Ms Finnegan. This was followed by a taste of traditional talent from 5th year Music students who put on a performance for their Mid Term assessment, treating us to traditional tunes on the fiddle, concertina and guitars. The brush and set dances were also showcased before a lesson on Irish ballads including The Fields of Athenry. To end the session students from France and Corsica took a turn on the keyboard and sang songs in their native languages while the Irish students clapped and sang along. Before leaving us, the Corsican students participated in many classes from Biology to Home Economics, Art and PE. They also presented us with products from their own island. We look forward to keeping in touch with our new friends and maybe even visit them in the near future.
