After a busy 5th year researching possible careers, doing work experience and running a fundraising Jumble sale to promote sustainable fashion, our 6th yr LCVP class kept the momentum going, organising a visit-in from local entrepreneur, Sarah Blake from East 73rd boutique. Sarah inspired the students with her story of her business journey from the streets of London to North Kerry in the middle of a recession. She stressed the importance of hard work and resilience as characteristics of survival in the world of business. Her motivation and determination were evident but the key message for the students was that things don’t always work out they way you expect them to. She encouraged them to take the chances that life gives them and with the right attitude, hard work and determination, it all works out in the end.
With their portfolios out of the way in March, and their final exam completed in early May, the students paid a visit to the local boutique with a small gift for Sarah to say a huge thank you. She was very relatable connecting the real world to content for their exam. We would like to thank Sarah for her time and participation in our project and all she does to benefit our local community.
With all loose ends finally tied up, the class chilled over a croissant and a cuppa to celebrate the end of their programme.. We wish them all the best in the exams, but also in all that is to come.
