The Student Council of Presentation Castleisland plays a pivotal role in the leadership and management of the school community. The Council is led by the Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl and gives member an opportunity to practice representative leadership. The Council puts forward the views of students on a range of school issues, and works with school management to promote a healthy and safe environment for all. The Student Council is comprised of class representatives from each year group. Over the years, the Student Council has played key roles in giving student voice on new school policies, organising fundraising events, presenting at meetings of staff and the Board of Management, and supporting school initiatives and events.

Aims

The aims for the Student Council throughout this school year are as follows:

  • Hold student council meetings twice a month.
  • Generate new initiatives and ideas for the betterment of student voice and participation in the school.
  • Establish a presence in the local community.
  • Ensure Student Council participation at our school open day, induction day, parent-teacher meetings and school events.
  • Present regular updates to the Board of Management.
  • Annual update of the student journal.
  • Review and update school policies.
  • Attend Annual Student Council Training and events offered by ISSU.
