A fantastic day for the school on Friday at the Student Enterprise, Kerry County Finals, held in the MTU in Tralee! The students involved won a total of 6 awards, reaffirming the school’s established culture in enterprise.
• First place in Seniors: Katelyn Curtin and Orlaith Buckley (Mearscaoilte Lao) won first prize in the Senior Category, a first for the school, with their safety innovation on calving jacks. They also won the award for Best Business Plan.
First and Second Place in Juniors: – Roley Poley (Cait Daly, Ellie Curtin, Laura McShane, Kirsten O’Connor and Brid Curtin) won first prize for their rotating seat cover and outdoor bench, while FogOff (Saoirse Daly, Katelyn Brosnan and Evelyn McElligott) took home second place.
•‘Best Stand’ and Second Place in Intermediate: Spotless Sills (Clodagh O’Sullivan, Mairead Walsh, Jan-Eve Browne and Rachel Deniel) won the overall award for Best Stand with their car and also took home second place in the Intermediate category.
A huge well done to all involved, including the many parents and teachers who supported with ideas, product development and costumes – the success would not have been possible without this. Roley Poley and Mearscaoilte Lao now go on to represent Kerry in the next stage of the All-Ireland competition. We wish them all the best.
