On Friday, First Year Business students went on an enterprise visit to Walsh Colour Print in Castleisland. The students got a firsthand glimpse inside the printing operation, learning from Tony Walsh about how he established the business, his plans for the future, automation of the plant, sources of expenditure and lessons learned throughout his business career. It was a fantastic insight for students to see how a small business idea can be transformed into a business of scale. The students got to see machines that can print hundreds of thousands of pages per hour, and robots that are replacing the manual handling by employees. Tony’s message to the students was simple – ‘take things step by step, slow and steady progress will take you far’. We thank Tony and Patricia for opening up their business to us and creating this memorable learning experience for students.
