All Ireland Quarter Final Win

Today our under 16 basketballers hosted the mighty Scoil Chríost Rí from Portlaoise. With a lot of history between the two schools, having met many times over the years in the late stages of All Irelands, we knew this was going to be a hard fought contest. The game started quite cagey, going in at the end of the first quarter leading by just a point. The second quarter was a different story however, as we really started to stretch the lead and exert our dominance. Scoil Chríost Rí never gave up and impressed with long range shooting throughout the game. They really tested us and forced us to adapt throughout. In the end, our mix of dominance on the boards, coupled with impressive long range shooting of our own, proved too much for our opposition. It is hard to single out individual players for their performances on the day, considering everyone who took the court really was brilliant. However to name but a few, Seána Wilkinson impressed throughout the game and top scored for us with 17 points. Muireann Walsh and Charlie O’ Keefe were unmatched in the post, and Emily O’ Donoghue got on a roll from long range. We now venture on to the All-Ireland Semi Finals where this fantastic group of players will go to battle once more.
