TY class host Eurovision with a difference!

Presentation Castleisland is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all staff and students. The Transition Year class have had to be creative due to the current setbacks of COVID. Through their European Studies class, the students hoped to spark creativity amongst the year group through the organisation of a fun music project to raise the spirits of the school community. The students chose to host their own virtual Presentation Castleisland Eurovision Competition. The event hoped to embrace and celebrate the different nationalities and cultures in their class. Visiting students from Germany, Norway and Spain have contributed immensely to the Transition Year experience thus far and provided the group with wonderful insight into the musical culture and history of their respective countries. Six iconic acts took to the stage on Friday December 11th: ABBA, Bucks Fizz, Riverdance, Jedward, Nicole, Amaia and Alfred. The performances were broadcast to class groups through Zoom, after which classes voted through an app for their favourite act or performance. This musical initiative proved a great way to celebrate Europe as a community and unite as a class. Throughout this project, students have followed the current COVID-19 guidelines with social distancing, sanitization and outdoor practice playing key roles in preparations. Well done all!
