On Wednesday, Gaelcholáiste Tralee came to town to take on our under 16’s and 19’s. Our under 16’s got the proceedings under way and they led from start to finish. It was a real dominant display by them and it sets up a mouth-watering top of table clash with Mounthawk in the next round. Deirdre Moynihan, Mairéad Walsh and Maggie Riordan were some of the standout performers on a day where the score ended 60-20.
The under 19’s would have to work a lot harder in the second game of the day. With a number of long range snipers on the visiting team, our opponents stayed with us right throughout the game and never allowed us to build a comfortable lead. With impressive performances from Aoibhínn Broderick, Emma Buckley, Julia Curtin and Ciara Casey however, we ran out winners 44-36 and kept our season alive. Our final group game of the under 19 season is next week vs Mounthawk, in what is a must win if we are to advance out of the group.
