Presentation Secondary School, Castleisland marked Safer Internet Day 2026 with an engaging and interactive programme focused on this year’s theme of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on young people’s online lives. The event welcomed sixth class pupils from Gaelscoil Aogain and Muire gan Smál, who took part in a series of workshops led by Webwise youth panelists Saoirse Collins and Gracie Mills.
Saoirse and Gracie, who attend regular meetings and training days with Webwise throughout the year, shared their knowledge and experience of online safety, digital wellbeing, and the growing role of AI in everyday technology. Supported by a committed group of Transition Year students, the workshops explored how AI is used online, its benefits, and the potential risks, helping pupils to develop critical thinking skills in a rapidly changing digital world.
The sessions combined informative input from the girls with fun activities and games, keeping pupils actively involved throughout. The interactive approach encouraged discussion, questions, and reflection in a supportive environment.
