The Con Houlihan Walking Trail in Castleisland celebrates the life and legacy of one of Ireland’s most beloved sportswriters and storytellers. A native of Castleisland, Con Houlihan was known for his poetic prose, deep knowledge of sport, and ability to capture the essence of people and places with warmth and wit. The trail takes visitors on a journey through his hometown, highlighting locations significant to his life and work. To make the experience interactive, our 5th-year students designed a quiz, challenging participants to engage with Houlihan’s story at each stop by answering a question related to his life, writings, and connection to Castleisland. This activity not only deepened students’ appreciation for his contributions but also brought his words to life in the streets he once walked.
