The Perfect Storm Survey- The Shona Project (Parents please read)

March 26, 2026

 01 WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Shona Project is undertaking research among pupils aged 12 – 19 across Ireland to gain a deeper
understanding of the experiences, concerns, and challenges faced by students today. This can include
things like friendships, relations, pressures in school, physical & mental health, things they’re looking
forward to etc.
The aim is to develop practical supports—such as resources, programs, and initiatives—
that promote resilience, equality, and empowerment for all teenagers.

02 WHAT IS NEEDED FROM THE PARENTS?

If you happy for your child to take part, we ask that you:

• Give parental consent on the first page of the survey.
• Please share this with your child for them to then complete the rest of the survey.

Survey responses are confidential. Once shared with your child, they will also be asked if they are
comfortable with taking part. The survey will take 10 minutes to complete.

03 PARENTAL & STUDENT CONSENT

Both you or your child have the right to withdraw consent to take part and there is no obligation for your child
to participate in this research.
