There was great excitement in Presentation Castleisland today as Catalyst Films visited the school to work with our Transition Year students on a very special filmmaking project. Under the guidance and stewardship of Ms. Lane, TY drama teacher, students had the opportunity to see their creative ideas come to life on screen.
In preparation for the visit, the group worked collaboratively to write an exciting original script, which was then brought to life during a full day of filming. Students experienced every stage of the filmmaking process – from acting and directing to setting up scenes and creating a suitable film set. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to see how much planning, creativity and teamwork goes into producing even a short piece of film. We were also delighted to welcome four Transition Year students from St. Patrick’s, who joined the production as extras.
Did you know that every single second of television or film is made up of 25 individual images? These images pass so quickly before our eyes that our brains interpret them as continuous movement. It truly highlights the remarkable power of film and storytelling through the camera lens.
We now eagerly look forward to the premiere screening of the finished film at a special event in the Belltable Theatre, Co. Limerick this April. It promises to be a wonderful occasion and we cannot wait for the big reveal! A huge well done to all students involved for embracing the experience and learning so many new skills along the way.
