TY Graduation 2022

May 25, 2022

Today, Transition Year graduation took place in Presentation Hall. The event aimed to celebrate the successes experienced by the group and recognise students for both their collective and individual achievements throughout the year. The theme of this graduation ceremony was ‘Hope’. Contributions from Mr. Dargan, Mr. Kelliher and Ms. Finnegan echoed this sentiment. Transition Year Student of the Year was awarded to Julia Curtin. Anna McSweeney received Academic Excellence in TY. The recipient of TY Active Role Model was Doireann O’Sullivan. TY Personal Development Award went to Mya Griffin. Finally, the award titled Spirit of Transition Year was awarded to Annie Moriarty. 24 additional awards were presented to students across a variety of subject and extra-curricular areas. Examples included Footballer of the Year, Dedication to Spanish/French/Chinese and STEM Student of the Year. We congratulate all 29 students that graduated today and wish them well as they move onto Senior Cycle. They have proven to be wonderful ambassadors for the school and we look forward to watching this group succeed as Leaving Certificate students in 2024. To celebrate the conclusion of Transition Year, the group gathered to watch the first showing of the Transition Year performance of Mamma Mia. Refreshments included TY student baking and a large selection of pizzas from DenJoes Castleisland. Thanks to the success of our Water Ambassadors and Ms. Murphy the ice-cream van visited the school this afternoon to truly finish the day in style. Thank you to Ms. Nagle and Ms. Dooley for their hard work preparing the hall in advance of today’s ceremony. Congratulations to all!
