Transition Year students were treated to a fun and engaging comedy drama workshop this week with well-known Kerry comedian Bernard Casey from Portmagee. The workshop gave students a chance to explore acting, improvisation, and the art of comedy in a relaxed and entertaining environment.
Bernard, who is renowned for his energetic performances and hilarious characters, has performed in venues all across Ireland, including the INEC in Killarney, where he regularly draws large crowds. During the session, he shared insights into the world of comedy and performance, showing students how humour can be used to connect with an audience and bring scripts to life.
The students took part in a range of interactive activities designed to boost confidence, teamwork, and creativity. Through improvisation games and short sketches, they discovered how to use voice, body language, and timing to create comedic moments.
Teachers praised the workshop for helping students step outside their comfort zones while building key communication and presentation skills.
The school would like to thank Bernard Casey for bringing his infectious humour and professional experience to the classroom. It was an unforgettable experience that left everyone smiling — and maybe even inspired a few future comedians!
