TY Trip to Scarlett Boutique

December 17, 2025

Today, Transition Year students enjoyed an engaging and inspiring trip to Killarney. Our first stop was Scarlett Boutique on Scott’s Lane, where students met local female entrepreneur Karen Healy, owner of the boutique.

Karen delivered an informative and motivating talk on the realities of owning and running a business, highlighting the importance of women in leadership roles and the value of an entrepreneurial mindset. She gave students a fascinating insight into fashion buying, brand selection, customer relations, and the day-to-day responsibilities involved in managing a successful retail business. Students were also given the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session, where they asked thoughtful questions and gained practical advice about entrepreneurship and career pathways.

Following the visit, the group travelled to Killarney Cinema to enjoy a screening of Wicked 2, before returning to Castleisland. This trip provided students with a valuable real-world learning experience, combining enterprise education, career exploration and an enjoyable social outing.
