Today, TY students attended a Careers Talk from Amy Ní Riada, a current member of An Garda Síochána. Amy spoke about her experience of education, her previous role as a reporter and newsreader for Kerry Radio and RTE, and of the opportunities such workplaces provided. She also spoke about the power of journalism and how valuable it is in an-ever changing world. A key takeaway is public speaking and live media reporting are skills one develops – not skills with which one is born. Now qualified as a Garda, Amy emphasised the importance of finding your passion in life and of the value of seeking out the many different pathways to your dream job. Thank you to Amy for giving her time to speak with our TY cohort.
