Today marked our first ever ‘Got to Dance’ competition. After months of preparations, the final seven groups battled it out in the St. John’s Hall to be crowned our very first winners of the contest. With Ms. O’ Shea, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Daly and Mr. Dargan judging the event, the standard was extremely high and picking a winner proved difficult. Having the whole school in attendance created a great atmosphere and it was a credit to the dancers to be able to stand up and perform in a highly pressurised situation.
In the end, 2X’s ‘Fusion’ ran out winners after the audience and judges’ votes were combined. Dancing to Kesha’s ‘Timber’, the group included Emily O’ Rourke Philpott, Leire Arana, Barbara Dolata and Amelia Jarza. They really brought the house down and when they were announced as winners, they performed the dance one last time to the delight of the audience. A huge thanks goes to our performers and judges on the day. Finally, a special mention goes out to Aoife Roche in TY who was our MC for the occassion. She kept the show rolling smoothly throughout. We look forward to Pres Castleislands ‘Got to Dance’ 2023 next year.
