On Friday, third years enjoyed a Business Studies lesson in the community, when they visited the Riverisland Hotel. Third years are currently studying the impact of enterprise on the local community, and so the girls interviewed and listened to a presentation from the hotel’s hotel manager. Students learned about the profile of customers at the hotel, the spin-off effect of tourists on local shops, the facilities offered by the hotel to the community and its environmental policies and practices. Students also had a chance to quiz the hotel manager on part-time work opportunities for students and work experience.
Visits such as these give students a great chance to complement school learning and encourage them to build closer connection to the community.
