Today, our new bicycle shelter was officially opened by Councillor Bobby O’Connell who commended the students for their efforts in promoting sustainable travel in our school. Green-Schools’ Travel Officer, Angela Wall, highlighted the benefits of cycling for not only the environment but also for one’s physical and mental health. Cycling not only boosts one’s mood and concentration but strengthens balance and co-ordination.
Just before the ceremony, some teachers and students cycled around the River Walk and all agreed that the cycle was really enjoyable.
We hope to gradually fill all 20 bicycle parking slots and encourage more students to cycle to school in the future. Well done to all who participated today to help raise awareness about sustainability during ‘Climate Action Week’.
