Students commemorate 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Our students remembered the 6 million Jews who perished during the Holocaust and also marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. They planted yellow crocuses which symbolise the yellow star of David which the Jewish community were forced to wear by the Nazis. 1.1million people were killed in Auschwitz-Birkenau. Just 220,000 are still alive with more than 20pc over 90 years of age. It us up to us to continue their story, keep their memory alive and learn from the lessons of the past.
