Over 30 Transition Year students participated in our annual SciFest@School competition today.
We had eleven groups of students presenting well researched and investigated projects. There were five awards up to grabs. It was very difficult for our judges, Ms. Nagle and Ms. O’Brien, to pick just five winners as the standard of projects this year was remarkable.
The winners are as follows:
Best Project – ‘Colour Memory’ by Mya Griffin, Anna McSweeney, and Aoibhe Hickey
Runner-up Best Project – ‘How COVID-19 affected people with additional needs’ by Aine Murphy, Blathnaid Casey and Lauren O’Connor
AbbVie Young Innovator Award – ‘Moody Foody’ by Ciara Cahill, Emma Keane and Orlaith O’Connor
The Bristol-Myers Squibb Passion for STEM Award – ‘How Social Media affects your Mental Health as a Teenager’ by Jennifer Culloty, Aoife Fleming, and Katelynn Laide
The Society of Irish Foresters (SOIF) Award – ‘The Effects of Different Alcohols on Plants’ by Nora Anne Hartnett and Elaine Cronin
These students will be presented with their awards form SciFest in the coming weeks. Congratulations to all the students that participated today.
