It was another successful day out for our first and second year basketballers today. The venue was Ennis, and our opponents were Coláiste Mhuire. The first years got us started, taking the lead early and never surrendering it thereafter. They were dominant throughout, with everybody playing a huge role. Caitlin Griffin top scored in this one with 10 points. Emily Philpott, Grace McGovern and Barbara Dolata also put in huge efforts to aid us in our 53-24 victory.
Like last week, the second years carried on right where the first years left off, and built up a very strong 16-6 first quarter lead. Though Ennis posed problems for us from that point forward, we showed great character and skill to maintain our lead throughout, eventually finishing 54-35 winners. Erin O’ Connor, Lauren Coffey, Clodagh O’ Sullivan, and Maggie Riordan, were some of the many outstanding performances on the day. Onwards and upwards we go from here, with round 3 looming in the coming week.
